Decorated jiu-jitsu world champion Mayssa Bastos of Brazil made her debut in the world's largest martial arts organization against a very tough Japanese opponent in Kanae Yamada last March. And the 26-year-old star says she feels she has had a proper initiation on the global stage.
Bastos is one of the most accomplished women in submission grappling, and she's getting ready to challenge for the ONE world title in her next match.
Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Bastos shared her thoughts on her promotional debut against Yamada.

The Brazilian said:
"I thought my performance was good. I was a little nervous because it was an event I had never competed in before and that was being watched by the whole world. But the experience was really good and in the end everything worked out. I came out with the victory and was able to show off some of my Jiu-Jitsu. I felt like I had done my duty."
If Bastos is victorious in her next outing, she will capture the most prestigious title in combat sports and prove that she is the best atomweight competitor in the sport.
But standing in her way is a determined champion, ready to defend the throne.
