Marcelo Garcia has produced one of the most legendary careers of anyone to have competed in submission grappling. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu icon is a legend of the game, and during his years at the top of the sport, he produced some iconic moments.
As one of the very best in the world, he faced off with some of the other all-time greats that were around in the same era as him.
Before he makes his highly anticipated return to competition and ONE Championship debut on Jan. 24, he looked back at one of those incredible rivalries.
Marcelo Garcia spoke in a recent interview with JitsCast about one opponent in particular who stands out to him as the biggest challenge that he ever faced.

When paired with Roger Gracie, the two men put on some incredible contests which Garcia won't forget about in a hurry:
"Yes, I just remember him as my toughest opponent because I never beat him. I competed against him twice and I lost both of them. But I feel like especially one of them, I feel like I gave him a good fight."

Marcelo Garcia and his fans have spent a long time looking back at his accomplishments from his active years.
After leaving the sport on top, he's now ready to make a return and the first step of that will take place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
At ONE 170, Garcia steps back into the spotlight for an openweight submission grappling clash with Japanese veteran Masakazu Imanari.
One of the greatest to ever do it will compete once again now that he has spent years working towards this goal.
Who knows, maybe Garcia has one more iconic rivalry left in him.
