"I get absolutely f*cked" - Sean Strickland dreads going to Australia to fight as he sheds light on taxes there

Sean Strickland had shed light on taxes in Australia ahead of his highly anticipated rematch against Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight title. The American will go to war against Du Plessis in the main event of UFC 312, which will place at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia, in February.

Ahead of the clash, one fan asked the American on X about taxes in Australia. The fan wrote:

“Curious how do the taxes work for you fighting in Australia?”

Many fans and pundits alike have been criticizing the UFC for low fighter payouts, and Strickland has been very vocal about the issue, often expressing that fighters should be paid more. He took notice of the tweet and responded, saying that no fighters want to fight in Australia because of the high 40% taxes and added that everyone has to be forced to go there.

Strickland said:

“I get absolutely f**ked.. no one wants to go to that f**king place.. I think it's like 40... Everyone on this card is being forced to go there lol it's not by choice.”

Sean Strickland reveals what he made in his first and second UFC fights

New fighters often suffer due to low pay from their respective promotions. Sean Strickland interacted with fans on X regarding the financial struggles of fighters, with one user asserting that Strickland must be rich.

Shedding light on the financial situation of fighters, Strickland revealed what he made in his first and second UFC fights, excluding the deduction fees. He wrote:

"This is a recent development. You know what I made on my first fight in the UFC? 12-12 [$12,000 to show and win].. then 15 percent to management, training, [and] then taxes..... Second fight? 15-15 [$15,000 to show and win]... taxes management fee, training fee."
