Jonathan Haggerty knew that to earn a win over Vladimir Kuzmin in his bantamweight debut, he would need to be cautious and adapt to his opponent's style.

After making a name for himself in the flyweight division, capturing the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship, and competing against Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a pair of instant classics, 'The General' decided it was time for a change of scenery.

At ONE on Prime Video 4, Haggerty moved up a weight class for a scrap with Russian standout Vladimir Kuzmin.

It was an entertaining battle that ultimately saw Haggerty walk away with a unanimous decision.

Looking back on the bout via a career retrospective on his YouTube channel, 'The General' noted one thing he would have changed in his approach.

"I had to get in there and adapt to his style," Haggerty said. "Yeah, I think if I would have changed anything in this fight, I would have clinched him a lot more, got hold of him, and used the elbows a lot more. Because I feel like me bouncing around, was the style that he wanted."

Jonathan Haggerty faces one of the best flyweights next

Jonathan Haggerty won't be venturing back down to flyweight, but he'll get the chance to throw hands with one of the best fighters in the weight class on Friday, Sept. 6 when 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek moves up a weight to challenge Haggerty for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai title.

Haggerty vs. Superlek will headline a loaded fight card as ONE Championship returns to The Mile High City for ONE 168: Denver.

It will be Jonathan Haggerty's first time defending the bantamweight Muay Thai belt following his stellar third-round knockout of Felipe Lobo at ONE Fight Night 19.

Superlek goes into the fight already reigning as the ONE flyweight kickboxing king and holds an unbeaten 10-0 record in Muay Thai action inside the Circle.

That includes wins over Thai icon Rodtang and highly-touted prospect Kongthoranee Sor Sommai in June.

Will Superlek claim his second ONE world title inside Ball Arena, or will two-sport champ Haggerty keep his crown and establish himself as one of the best P4P fighters on the planet?
