“I got my hunger back” - Regian Eersel admits loss to Alexis Nicolas reignited his passion for fighting

Regian Eersel wants to create the best comeback ever in his career after French striker Alexis Nicolas nabbed the win and his belt in their first encounter.

The former ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion is now aiming to return with a new passion and strategy to get his belt back when he challenges the new king Nicolas at ONE Fight Night 25 this October 4.

Indeed, 'The Immortal' had been undefeated for a very long time, and this would be his best opportunity to show how he responds to adversity and setbacks in his career.

Ahead of their main event tilt inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, Eersel spoke to ONE Championship about the things he learned from his loss and how he's going to turn back the script.

The Surinamese superstar said:

"I got my hunger back. And I noticed it in the fight when I was hurting him and he was running away, I had the extra fire to go through the pain and put more and more pressure on him."

He added:

"So I learned I have more fire inside of me, and I learned I have to think and be smarter than him in the next fight."

Regian Eersel will return with a 'new fire' in him at ONE Fight Night 25

Former two-sport world champion Regian Eersel had to witness his 22-fight winning streak went down the drain, and it was very taxing for him.

Nonetheless, he's now ready to avenge his loss, even hungrier than before, against the man who defeated and took his ONE lightweight kickboxing belt away, Alexis Nicolas.

Regian Eersel, who still holds the lightweight Muay Thai world title, told ONE about his newfound fire:

"I've learned from this loss, too. I got my hunger back, you know, after staying on the fight [game] for so many years, you lose a little bit of fire. It sounds a little bit strange, but you still lose a little bit of fire."
