Chidi Njokuani vs. Gregory Rodrigues was a brutal encounter in the UFC that saw Rodrigues suffer a massive cut between his eyes. Despite the injury, 'Robocop' managed to pull off a comeback victory, knocking out Njokuani in the second round.
The fight started with a brutal knee from Njokuani that opened up a deep cut on Rodrigues' head. The Brazilian's resilience was on full display as he continued to fight despite the significant blood loss. Between rounds, his corner worked tirelessly to stop the bleeding and keep Rodrigues in the fight.
In a shocking turn of events, Rodrigues capitalized on Njokuani's mistakes in the second round and secured a knockout victory. The 32-year-old later admitted that he was in a lot of trouble due to the injury but managed to maintain his composure.
Speaking to MMA Junkie in an interview, he said:
“I fell, I was a little like, ‘Man, what happened?’ And then the blood started to come down and I was kind of blind, trying to figure out what I’m going to do. But, like I said, I want to say thank you to my corner, my trainers. They did an amazing job. They started talking with me, and I was like, ‘No, no, no. Let me calm down.’ And I started hearing, ‘Move the legs!’ And stuff like that. And then I tried and then I [went] back, then I thought, ‘Man, I need to start something.'”
