Don't expect Demetrious Johnson to change his mind and lace up the four-ounce gloves anew anytime soon.

One of the greatest martial artists of all time called it a career last September, as the world's largest martial arts organization gave him a fitting and emotional tribute at ONE 168: Denver.

Given that 'DJ' is still very much in his prime, fans and pundits alike are wondering if he'll ever get the itch to come out of retirement and continue his legendary career.

Appearing in an interview with MMA Fighting, Johnson told his loving fans not to hold their breath since he's very much contended with the post-MMA chapter of his life.

"For me, I just don’t like mixed martial arts competing. I get enjoyment out of doing it in jiu-jitsu and going like IBJJF and doing that stuff. So for me, I just don’t see a point in coming back. Like, what if I were to come back to fighting, what would I do?"

'Mighty Mouse' also cited that his ventures outside of fighting are doing extremely well, adding:

"At one point in time, there was an itch, or I wanted to box and do a boxing match, but as I am building a successful brand in the YouTube space in The Mighty Cast, I’d rather put my energy into something that I can still do when I’m 45, 50, 55, 60."

ONE's flyweight MMA division will have a new ruler after Demetrious Johnson's retirement

Demetrious Johnson retired on top and chose to vacate his flyweight MMA world championship.

With the 135-pound MMA division wide open after the MMA GOAT candidate's retirement, several contenders made their case for the belt.

'DJ's old rival Adriano Moraes, whom he fought thrice under the ONE banner, emerged as the clear candidate after choking out Danny Kingad at ONE 169 last November.

The division's mainstay, Yuya Wakamatsu, also secured his slot after extending his winning streak to three with a remarkable performance against Gilbert Nakati at ONE Fight Night 26 last Dec. 6.

A new flyweight MMA world champion will be crowned at ONE 172: Takeru vs Rodtang on March 23, 2025, at Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
