Scottish Muay Thai star Nico Carrillo is a month away from challenging two-sport ONE world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the bantamweight Muay Thai crown at ONE 170 on Jan. 24, 2025, inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
'King of the North' understands the threat that Superlek poses, but he does not see the Thai hero giving him any trouble.
Carrillo said in an interview with Sky Sports MMA Club:
"The highest. He is the pound-for-pound [best], I do agree with that. I just don't see a 135-er who can still comfortably make weight beats me, the biggest 145-er. I said this before Haggerty fought him. Whatever happens to him, if Superlek wins, how does he beat me? I just don't [see it]. This is what I see. Everybody else may have their opinions to it, but I just don't see how he can hurt me."

The second-ranked ONE bantamweight Muay Thai competitor has been an absolute monster since making his ONE debut in April 2023, knocking out all four of his opponents thus far.
With such momentum entering the biggest fight of his career, Carrillo will look to translate his success into a ONE world championship.
Superlek unfazed by Nico Carrillo's knockout power
Superlek, who also holds the flyweight kickboxing crown, has fought elite opponents throughout his career, which is why he is not too concerned with what Nico Carrillo brings to the table.
Combat sports journalist Andrew Whitelaw shared Superlek's thoughts in an Instagram post:
"I'm not scared of guys like this. I like to fight guys with this style, and I like new challenges too."
'The Kicking Machine' won 26 pounds of bantamweight Muay Thai gold from then-reigning Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168: Denver this past September inside the Ball Arena in just 49 seconds.
Despite the defeat, 'The General' still holds the bantamweight kickboxing crown.
