Despite producing a performance that won over a lot of fans, ‘Wonder Boy’ Fabricio Andrade is his own worst critic.
At ONE on Prime Video 3, Andrade answered a lot of questions about his own ability by putting on a great display against always-dangerous veteran John Lineker.
After their fight ended in disappointing fashion by being declared a no contest, a rematch between the two Brazilians still looms overhead. With that in mind, Andrade has been reflecting on what he would’ve done better in the fight.
In an interview with The MMA Superfan, ‘Wonder Boy’ spoke about one correction he could make if a rematch with Lineker is on the cards:

“He expected me to come and, of course, I wanted to finish the fight. I was bringing the fight to him, just walking forward and trying to bring the fight. [Because of that], I kind of exposed myself a little bit. I can beat him with any shot because he’s so short, but I was rushing a bit too much. I wanted to finish the fight.”

Whilst he sees it as room for improvement, a lot of fans were very impressed by the way that Andrade was the one being aggressive towards the wrecking ball force of John Lineker.
Though it could be a reason for Andrade landing the unintentional foul knee that stopped the fight, his desire to bring the fight to the former champion and get him out of there has turned him into the number one contender in the bantamweight division.
Fabricio Andrade was extra excited to perform in front of live crowd
A lot of new ground was covered at ONE on Prime Video 3 for ‘Wonder Boy’ Fabricio Andrade. Not only was it his first main event and saw him competing for a world championship for the first time, it was the Brazilian’s first time competing inside the circle with a crowd in attendance.
'Wonder Boy' has made an incredible impact since signing for ONE in 2019, but all of his work up to his world championship fight had been behind closed doors.
In the same interview, Fabricio Andrade spoke about what it was like to finally get the chance to put on a show for a live crowd and how it affected him in the fight:
“It was different, you know? I remember when they brought us out, to introduce the main event to everyone, and then I saw a lot of people. I was like, ‘I’m not used to that.’ Because all of my five fights were with no crowd. But it was really nice. It felt more real, for them to watch you while they were screaming. It was a lot more fun and made me more excited. Maybe too excited.”
"Maybe too excited" alludes to the idea that Fabricio Andrade believed he was overly aggressive in the fight. This may have potentially led to his knee strike that landed low to the groin of John Lineker. When he couldn’t continue, the fight was declared a no contest.
