ONE welterweight submission grappling world title contender and IBJJF world champion Tye Ruotolo recently spoke about a possible dream match between him and his twin brother, Kade. A match with his sibling Kade, who is the youngest ADCC world champion ever and current ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion, will surely be one for the history books.
We don't see a lot of brothers in combat sports become world champions alongside each other, let alone twins. What is more rare is for them to fight each other. We may have only seen this in jiu-jitsu when siblings Paulo and Joao Miyao faced each other, for example.
Interestingly enough, Kade and Tye Ruotolo have faced each other before on the world stage, most notably in the finals of the IBJJF World Championships in 2021. The two fought as brown belts, with Tye rallying back late to win via an armbar.

Speaking to ONE Championship, Tye Ruotolo shed light on what it means to face his twin in the promotion. ONE posted an excerpt of the conversation on Instagram:
"BROTHER 🆚 BROTHER? 🤯 Tye Ruotolo returns on November 3 to scrap with Magomed Abdulkadirov for the inaugural ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Title at ONE Fight Night 16 on @primevideo! 🔥 @ruotolobrothersjiujitsu"
In the interview, Tye said:
"Technically I’m 3-0 against Kade [Ruotolo]. They were all wars. I know he wants one back. So, we’re open to that match."
In their 2021 IBJJF Worlds Finals match, Kade was comfortably in the lead with two points to zero (with 6 advantages to 1). In the final two minutes, Tye was able to take top position and submit his brother with an armbar.
At the moment, Tye Ruotolo, is scheduled to face promotional newcomer Magomed Abdulkadirov for the inaugural ONE welterweight submission grappling world title at ONE Fight Night 16 on November 3.
Abdulkadirov is an ADCC European Trials Champion and has done well in the prestigious ADCC World Championships. Ruotolo himself is an ADCC Absolutes bronze medalist as well as the youngest IBJJF gold medalist ever.
ONE Fight Night 16 goes down at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. The event will be available to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
