“I’ll let him choose” - Rodtang willing to fight Takeru under any rule set, including MMA

Rodtang Jitmuangnon is just hours away from defending his flyweight Muay Thai world championship against another ONE world champion. In the ONE on Prime Video 4, Rodtang will step into the circle with Joseph ‘The Hurricane’ Lasiri, the promotion’s strawweight Muay Thai world champion.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated champion vs. champion clash, ‘The Iron Man’ spoke to ONE Championship and mentioned another name that has been on his mind for a long time: Takeru Segawa.

Discussing a potential bout with the kickboxing icon, Rodtang said:

“I’ll let him choose. If I pick Muay Thai or MMA, he would probably say he isn't familiar with the rules. So, I'll let him be the one to choose. I am always ready for any rule set.”

For those unfamiliar, Takeru Segawa is arguably the most accomplished fighter in K-1 history, capturing championships in three different weight classes including the super featherweight, featherweight, and super bantamweight titles. He is also a three-time K-1 World Grand Prix tournament winner.

While there are many potential dream matches waiting for ‘The Iron Man’ to take part, especially with ONE Championship’s innovative mixed-rules bouts, it’s clear that the Muay Thai icon has his heart set on a long-awaited showdown with the ‘Natural Born Crusher’.

The Iron Man’ promised to give fans no less in his Muay Thai showdown with Joseph Lasriri this Friday night:

“Actually, it is no different because I always commit to giving my all in every fight. And I will do everything in my capacity as the world champion to defend my belt in this upcoming fight.”
