Marat Grigorian hopes to be part of ONE Championship's highly anticipated return to Japan.
On Sunday, March 23, ONE heads to the legendary Saitama Super Arena with one of the most anticipated fights in promotional history as Thai icon Rodtang Jitmuangnon is set to square off with Japanese kickboxing superstar Takeru Segawa.
Few details have been announced regarding ONE 172 outside of the scrap between 'The Iron Man' and 'The Natural Born Crusher,' but if three-time GLORY Kickboxing world champion Marat Grigorian gets his wish, he'll be part of the festivities when the promotion heads back to The Land of the Rising Sun.

"I would love to fight in Japan because I have a lot of fans there in Japan and it will be very very nice to fight there," Grigorian told Nick Atkin of The Bangkok Post. "So I hope that Chatri [Sityodtong] [will be] going to match me there."
The last time Grigorian competed in Japan, he scored a vicious third-round knockout against long-time rival Sitthichai Sitsonpeenong at ONE 165 in Tokyo.
ONE 172 will emanate from the Saitama Super Arena in Japan on Sunday, March 23. Visit ONE Championship’s official website to sign up for early bird tickets to one of the most anticipated events of 2025.
Marat Grigorian wants trilogy fight with Superbon in Japan
Coming off a big bounce-back victory over Abdelali Zahidi at the promotion's final event of 2024 — ONE Friday Fights 92 — Marat Grigorian hopes that a trilogy bout with interim ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon is in his future.
And he already has the perfect place in mind for the potential threequel.
"With all pleasure. With all pleasure. It will be a good match in Japan," Grigorian said of a third fight with Superbon. "It will be awesome for me. Not Thailand."
Thus far, Grigorian is 0-2 against Superbon in ONE Championship, suffering unanimous decision losses against the Thai at ONE X in March 2022 and most recently at ONE Friday Fights 58 in August.
Still, Grigorian is confident that he can get that ever-elusive win over Superbon inside the Circle.
