Demetrious Johnson's grappling has been the foundations of his championship reigns

Demetrious Johnson has built a case for himself possibly being the greatest fighter pound-for-pound to compete in MMA through the strength of his well-rounded skill set.

The former UFC flyweight champion and now-reigning ONE flyweight world titleholder avenged his only loss in ONE Championship in his last fight, defeating Adriano Moraes with a highlight reel knockout to win the flyweight world championship.

While recently appearing on the Joe Rogan Experience, ‘Mighty Mouse’ detailed how he has been able to stay at the top of the sport for so long:

“It’s probably my upbringing in martial arts, right? I was talking to people the other day and I told them I started when I was 18 in martial arts. If you count, some people don’t count wrestling as a martial art, I do. So I started in middle school, then I got to high school, I didn’t go to wrestle, I jumped straight to mixed martial arts.”

He added:

“Now when I get to my fights or when I do things, I’m able to go back to my beginning. I’ve faced this before and I’m able to just keep getting better. My foundation is so solid that it’s what’s been able to keep me on top for so long.”

Johnson is 4-1 since joining ONE Championship, including a win over Rodtang in a mixed-rules superfight at ONE X.

Demetrious Johnson intrigued by 'Werewolf By Night'

With no fight booked in on the schedule, ‘Mighty Mouse’ Demetrious Johnson has been catching up on all of the recently released projects from Marvel Studios on Disney+.

The ONE flyweight world champion recently discussed the movie Werewolf By Night in an interview with ONE Championship. 'Mighty Mouse' said:

"Yeah I watched it, it’s good. I like how Disney is kinda treading on this new Rated R spooky kind of content. I actually enjoyed it, it’s good. I don’t know how it fits into the MCU or what universe it is but I think it’s good. We’ll see where they go from there."

Werewolf by Night was released as a Halloween special on the streaming service, and remains connected to the MCU as a one-off.

Demetrious Johnson has never been one to hide the things he is passionate about, like gaming, which he has been able to gain a large following through on his Mighty Gaming channel.
