"I'm always in the gym" - Jo Nattawut says consistency and discipline trumps talent every time

Third-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender Jo Nattawut agrees that hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.

'Smokin' Jo admits he's never been considered a striking prodigy when he first started out in 'The Art of Eight Limbs'.

However, the 34-year-old veteran has been able to beat more gifted and skillful adversaries in the past thanks to his workhorse attitude and disciplined mentality.

Jo Nattawut shared via Sportsmanor's YouTube channel:

"Consistency. I'm always in the gym, working out, trying to keep myself fit, and always eating good. I don't eat anything bad. And I have a lot of rest and sleep, too. I think it doesn't just benefit fighters but people in general."

Truth be told, not many pundits gave Jo Nattawut a fighting chance when he stepped in as a short-notice replacement against the prodigious Tawanchai PK Saenchai at ONE Fight Night 15 last year.

'Smokin' Jo, though, more than held his own against the reigning featherweight Muay Thai champion and pushed him to the brink, despite eventually falling short on the judges' scorecards.

With a full training camp this time around, Nattawut is eager to prove that hard work can overcome talent at ONE 167.

The pair will run it back under Muay Thai rules this coming June 7, live on US Primetime, inside Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

'Smokin' Jo Nattawut wants ONE gold before calling it a career

Jo Natatwut is a former Lion Fight Champion and WMC Muay Thai titleholder. While those accomplishments are already quite an amazing feat, he wants to win the big one before possibly ending his professional fighting career.

Speaking to ONE, the Thai Top Team star said claiming Tawanchai's featherweight Muay Thai crown will undoubtedly be his greatest accomplishment as a fighter:

"The World Title would mean my work has been successful. I’m at the end of my career. Everywhere I go, I always get the title. So this is another belt to prove that I am really a champion."
