“I'm approaching this fight as if it's my last” - Japanese superstar Takeru ready to go for broke in monumental clash with Rodtang

Takeru Segawa exercised a great deal of patience after his supposed match with Rodtang Jitmuangnon fell through due to the latter's hand injury.

The stars certainly aligned following news that this sought-after firefight has been rebooked for the promotion's upcoming massive event in Japan.

ONE 172: Takeru vs. Rodtang will take place inside Saitama Super Arena on March 23, headlined by arguably two of the most beloved pure strikers on the planet.

Splitting his first two contests in the world's largest martial arts organization, Takeru earned the respect and adulation of millions for displaying a true warrior's spirit on the global stage in his matches against Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Thant Zin.

Now, 'The Natural Born Crusher' will finally get the fight he's been coveting for so long against 'The Iron Man'.

Speaking during the ONE 172 introductory press conference in Tokyo, Takeru vowed to seize this career-defining opportunity of a lifetime and bring his absolute best against Rodtang. The Japanese star said:

"I can't make any definitive statements about what might happen. I'm approaching this fight as if it's my last, giving everything I have. I'm only thinking about this fight. That's how much I'm investing in it."

Takeru always knew he was "destined" to fight Rodtang

Given the huge number of fighters all over the world, it's rare to see two warriors who seem like equals and mirror-images of one another.

Takeru and Rodtang are definitely two peas in a pod when it comes to bringing excitement with their pulsating way of fighting.

"I'm very happy to finally fight Rodtang. He had injuries and our fight was postponed, but this match happening now means it was destiny."
