Speaking during the ONE 172 introductory press conference in Tokyo, Takeru vowed to seize this career-defining opportunity of a lifetime and bring his absolute best against Rodtang. The Japanese star said:
"I can't make any definitive statements about what might happen. I'm approaching this fight as if it's my last, giving everything I have. I'm only thinking about this fight. That's how much I'm investing in it."
Takeru always knew he was "destined" to fight Rodtang
Given the huge number of fighters all over the world, it's rare to see two warriors who seem like equals and mirror-images of one another.
Takeru and Rodtang are definitely two peas in a pod when it comes to bringing excitement with their pulsating way of fighting.

While their date with Rodtang was initially delayed, Takeru believes the universe really wanted this epic duel to unfold. He said during the ONE 172 press conference:
"I'm very happy to finally fight Rodtang. He had injuries and our fight was postponed, but this match happening now means it was destiny."
