"I'm a better grappler" - Denice Zamboanga banking on her ground game to claim ONE interim gold vs. Alyona Rassohyna

During her time in ONE Championship, fans have watched Denice Zamboanga continue to grow and evolve with each passing fight. She is now a confident competitor who can rely on her well-rounded skillset to overcome different challenges and styles.

Whilst she has spent a long time preparing for an eventual showdown with elite striker Stamp Fairtex, the Filipino contender has one more hurdle to clear first.

She is set to face off with Alyona Rassohyna at ONE Fight Night 27, where the interim ONE atomweight world championship will be on the line.

When breaking down her next contest on Jan. 10, 'The Menace' believes that she will hold the advantage in one specific area.

Rassohyna may be known for her grappling game but Denice Zamboanga doesn't think that she has been tested in this area by another competitor who is skilled in this area.

She told spin.ph that this could end up being a crucial aspect of their matchup that goes down inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand:

"I haven't seen her face a true grappler, or a wrestler." she said. "It's always a striker which allows her to dominate on the ground. In this fight, I'd like to prove that I'm a better grappler."

Denice Zamboanga has worked too hard to only get this far

If everything had played out as intended, Denice Zamboanga would have already challenged for the world championship many months ago.

Injuries to both Stamp Fairtex and herself have delayed her progress but the top contender won't let this derail her momentum.

Whilst Alyona Rassohyna has the opportunity to disrupt the division by getting her hand raised on Jan. 10, Zamboanga isn't going to let this opportunity slip through her fingers.

She is well prepared and confident that she will leave Lumpinee with the interim gold wrapped around her waist at long last.
