Luke Lessei came into ONE Fight Night 27 wanting to make a statement to the rest of the division and himself. 'The Chef' has been incredible value for money since he arrived in ONE Championship with some amazing fights under his belt.
While Lessei is happy to put on a show for the fans and earn their respect, he isn't here to make up the numbers and boost up other guys in his weight class.
His return this past weekend at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, was about showcasing a new and improved version of his game following some major changes that he has made in his life.
Having lost his last fight to Bampara Kouyate, Lessei wanted to rebound and he did that in style by stopping Cody Jerome in the first round. He then spoke in a post-fight interview with Nick Atkin about proving that he isn't a stepping stone for others and being excited for what the future holds:

"Yeah, because you know I'm tough too from the last couple of fights, and now, you know I can analyze you and pick you apart. So it's like, and this is only the first camp with Beacon MMA. I came out there in August, so this is like three months of work, four months of work when we talk about when fight camp started. So dude, even me, I don't even know what's gonna happen next, but I'm excited for all the unlocks that are coming."

Luke Lessei is back on the right path
As Luke Lessei said himself, both fight fans and his fellow strikers know exactly what he is made of thanks to some of the incredible wars that he has put on since signing with ONE Championship.
However, his performance against Jerome on Jan. 10 showed a more ruthless and clinical side to his game that we haven't seen before.
'The Chef' has been cooking up something new, and it appears that the recipe is starting to take shape.
