When ‘The Monkey God’ Jarred Brooks steps into the circle on Saturday, it won’t be just for ONE Championship gold. It will be to earn the respect of his opponent, reigning strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio.

In a recent post on Instagram, Brooks shared one final message to his opponent ahead of their highly-anticipated showdown at ONE 164 this weekend.

“I’m going to add another head on the trophy board December 3rd ! The belt is cool but I want to prove to @joshuapacio I am much more than a fighter and show him I’m a true mixed martial artist, and make him put newfound respect on my name!”

The two fighters have been at one another’s throats for the better part of 2022. It seems only fitting that the two will close out ONE Championship’s year with a main event clash as part of a stacked double-header.

In addition to the ONE 164 headliner, fans in Manila will be treated to ONE on Prime Video 5 just hours before Jarred Brooks and Joshua Pacio step into the circle.

ONE’s latest Amazon Prime Video offering will feature three massive world title fights, including a champion vs. champion clash when Reinier de Ridder puts his ONE light heavyweight world title fight on the line against reigning interim heavyweight world champion Anatoly Malykhin.

Jarred Brooks aims for a quick finish at ONE 164 on Saturday

‘The Monkey God’ will look to make his next appearance inside the circle a quick one on Saturday, December 3. Making his fourth appearance for ONE Championship, Jarred Brooks will face the toughest test of his career to date, challenging the promotion’s reigning strawweight king, Joshua Pacio.

Discussing the upcoming bout in an interview with the South China Morning Post, Brooks shared his desire to end things early at ONE 164:

“Not a firm strategy. I'm just going in, guns blazing and wherever the fight takes me, it takes me. I want to knock him out in the first 30 seconds.”

While the general consensus believes Brooks’ best chance is to utilize his grappling against Pacio, ‘The Monkey God’ has already expressed a desire to stand and trade with the strawweight champion.

Whether or not he sticks to that plan remains to be seen, but one thing we can count on is both fighters bringing absolutely everything they’ve got to the live crowd in Manila this Saturday.
