During the climb that Jarred Brooks made up the strawweight MMA division in ONE Championship, he was confident of one thing.
The American contender believed that despite having yet to challenge for the world championship, he was the uncrowned king of the weight class.
Following the unfortunate events of ONE 166 earlier this year, he now finds himself back in the same position having lost his title via disqualification.
Brooks believes that he did not deserve to lose the fight and his title in the rematch with Joshua Pacio after the call was made that he intentionally spiked his opponent.

Now, at ONE Fight Night 24, he hopes to send a message by defeating Gustavo Balart in the main event to win the interim belt.
In his pre-event interview with Sportskeeda, Brooks spoke about how nothing will stop him from proving his point once again:
"Anything can happen in this game but at the end of the day, it's going to be a rough, rough night for Gustavo. He's been training really hard but I'm going out there to prove a point to ONE Championship and to the fans that I'm the real strawweight MMA world champion."

Jarred Brooks knows what it takes to reach the top
If everything goes his way on August 2, Jarred Brooks will be one step closer to reclaiming his strawweight world championship.
An interim title win sets him up perfectly for a massive trilogy fight with Joshua Pacio who is currently recovering from an injury.
As for Gustavo Balart, he has the opportunity to spoil the party despite being unable to win the title after he failed to hit the strawweight limit and pass his hydration test at the same time.
Brooks is well aware of the dangers that await him in this fight but his mind is set on taking back the throne.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
