"I'm going to take it" - Christian Lee says he'd accept chance to rematch and 'finish' Alibeg Rasulov once and for all

Christian Lee's returning came to an unfortunate end

The long-awaited return of Christian Lee did not go to plan at ONE Fight Night 26 following an unfortunate series of events.

At Lumpinee Stadium on Dec. 6, the two-weight MMA world champion was set to make his comeback after spending over two years away from competition.

In the main event of the final Fight Night event of the year, it would be Lee putting his lightweight gold on the line against the undefeated Alibeg Rasulov.

The fight was heating up and it looked like 'The Warrior' was really beginning to build into the fight until in the second round, Rasulov suffered an unintentional eye poke.

He couldn't continue and the fight was waved off, declaring it a no contest which neither man wanted to see.

Immediately, talk turned to there being a rematch between them later on down the line and though Christian Lee is planning to take some time off due to the upcoming birth of his next child, he's more than happy to run it back.

He spoke in his post-event interview with ONE Championship about wanting to close this chapter for good:

"I'm not sure what the immediate plans are going to be. But yeah, if they offer me that rematch again, I'm going to take it so I can finish it."

Christian Lee has to take positives away from this experience

Christian Lee will be absolutely devastated for his big return to have ended in a no contest due to an eye poke.

Unfortunately, these things happen in combat sports and we don't always get the fairytale story that could play out.

For Lee, it's important that he takes lessons and positives from this experience before looking to hit the reset button on his comeback.

A rematch with Rasulov makes the most sense and it will also allow 'The Warrior' to close out some unfinished business.
