Former ONE heavyweight champion Brandon Vera is set to make his first appearance of the year against Amir Aliakbari at ONE Championship 164. Ahead of the contest, 'The Truth' has sent a warning to his upcoming foe.
Vera is preparing for what could be his last fight inside the ONE circle and what is definitely another tough test. Regardless, the 45-year-old is ready to put on another show for the fans in his adopted home. He told The MMA Superfan:
"Amir, do you think I’m not gonna touch your chin when we fight? I don’t know how the fight’s gonna go, but I know if this could potentially be my last one, I'm a soldier, son. I’m gonna put on a show."

"Oh my God, and we’re in the Philippines, in our country. It’s like the national anthem, the last line of the national anthem, ‘Ang mamatay nang dahil sa ‘yo.’ [I will die for your honor]"
This upcoming fight clearly means a lot to the former champ. Vera will surely want to leave with a win if this match does indeed end up being his final outing.

Brandon Vera flew in strength and conditioning coaches
Vera will be the first to admit his disdain for strength and conditioning training. However, he's taking it very seriously and believes he's in great shape heading into his match against Aliakbari.
Vera said in the same interview:
“So I trained in the Philippines, I’m training here in Guam. Flew in some coaches, people are coming in and out, training partners coming in and out. The craziest part is I’ve been doing strength and conditioning since February or March and I hate strength and conditioning man, like I really, really hate it. I loathe strength and conditioning.”
'The Truth' is hoping to regain his footing and get back to his winning ways and the form that had him knocking opponents out in a matter of minutes.
