ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks of the United States is getting ready to enter uncharted territory in ONE Championship as he moves from strawweight to flyweight in his next bout.

Brooks has dominated the competition in his current division and has rarely been challenged in his reign as the strawweight king. This has prompted him to seek literally bigger and better tests at flyweight, beginning with Australia's 'Lightning' Reece McLaren next week.

Speaking to The MMA Superfan in a recent interview, Brooks says he has the special ability to move across different weight classes and win, despite his small size, so fans shouldn't be surprised.

The 31-year-old Mash Fight Team representative stated:

"I'm like, no, you guys don't understand the definition of what small is in mixed martial arts. Because I'm huge in mixed martial arts, I can fight a lot of people from different backgrounds in different styles. And that's all that matters at the end of the day."

A victory over the fourth-ranked ONE Championship flyweight MMA contender McLaren would catapult Brooks up through the divisional rankings.

With that, it could potentially put him in the running for a shot at the vacant ONE flyweight MMA world title, left behind by none other than recently retired legend 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson.
