Move to bantamweight was the right move for Jonathan Haggerty. After making a name for himself at flyweight—capturing the division's top and delivering a pair of instant classics against Thai icon Rodtang Jitmuangnon—'The General' moved up to bantamweight, starting with a fight against Russian standout Vladimir Kuzmin at ONE on Prime Video 4.

Since then, Haggerty has claimed two different titles in the weight class and is on the cusp of becoming the pound-for-pound best Muay Thai fighter on the planet.

After racking up some seriously impressive wins in the division, Jonathan Haggerty knows that bantamweight is where he belongs.

"Now that I’m at bantamweight, it’s where I’m supposed to be and I’m doing what I’m supposed to do—and that’s beat everybody,” Haggerty said in a recent interview with the promotion.

Of course, he's not opposed to the possibility of moving back down to flyweight depending on how things play out in his return to the Circle on Sept. 6, but first things first.

Superlek seeks champ-champ status against Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168: Denver

After a stellar 2023 that saw him capture both the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world championships, Jonathan Haggerty steps back into the main event spotlight at ONE 168: Denver for a showdown with Thai superstar Superlek Kiatmoo9.

It will be Haggerty's second time defending the bantamweight Muay Thai after scoring an epic come-from-behind KO against 'Demolition Man' Felipe Lobo in February.

Hoping to squash Haggerty's two-sport status and etch his name in the history books, ONE flyweight kickboxing titleholder Superlek will seek his first Muay Thai belt under the ONE Championship banner.

With a win, 'The Kicking Machine will become the promotion's newest champ-champ and likely secure his spot atop the pound-for-pound rankings.
