ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci has done just about everything there is to do in his specialist field. 'Darth Rigatoni' could walk away from competing today and still be held up as a true modern day jiu jitsu great after what he has accomplished.
However, with his passion for training and evolution, there is perhaps a final frontier for him to conquer by stepping over into MMA.
This would require him to dedicate himself to working on his striking and wrestling to support his submission skills on the ground.
ONE Championship fans recently saw Musumeci's next opponent, the ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo, make this jump at ONE 167, where he submitted Blake Cooper.

In a recent interview on The MMA Hour following his latest win, Musumeci said that he's got time on his side and a passion for learning, which could make MMA a viable option at some stage:
"I'm only 27. I've been learning a lot of wrestling. I've been working with a lot of people for wrestling recently. I'm just a student of the game. I just love learning. I have this white belt mentality. I just love learning."

Mikey Musumeci would be a nightmare match-up in MMA
Any of his MMA opponents would surely watch back this most recent performance from Mikey Musumeci and start to cringe. His incredible leg attack game was on full show against a fellow elite grappler in Gabriel Sousa who he secured revenge over in truly dominant fashion.
As previously mentioned, his next challenge is already locked in at ONE 168 in Denver. He will move up to the lightweight division for a clash between champions.
Musumeci vs Ruotolo is a dream contest for grappling fans which is set to take place at US prime time inside the Ball Arena on September 6.
