ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion Danielle Kelly is an astute student of the game and has already done her due diligence on her next challenger.
On August 2, live at U.S. Primetime, Kelly will defend her 26 pounds of gold for the first time against Mayssa Bastos in the penultimate match of ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs Balart on Prime Video.
Kelly is quite familiar with Bastos' handiwork, given the Brazilian's reputation as one of the most decorated female BJJ athletes in the world today.
The nine-time IBJJF world champion usually sets up her deadly chain of attacks through her signature berimbolo.

Kelly knows this, and she has already mapped out a proper counterattack to Bastos' feared arsenal.
The Silver Fox BJJ athlete told ONE Championship in an exclusive interview:
"I think that in this match, she's gonna be trying to attack my back. I think she's going to try to rush something like a leglock because a lot of people like doing leg locks with me, which I hope so because I like to counter."
Moreover, the American grappling superstar also sent out a chilling warning to Bastos, if she becomes too reckless and leaves herself open.
Danielle Kelly stated:
"I'm looking to break anything she gives me."
ONE Fight Night 24 will emanate from 'The Mecca of Muay Thai' Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. This event is free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in North America.
Danielle Kelly says grappling in a ring setting won't be an issue
Danielle Kelly is down to scrap anywhere and anytime and has already collected massive wins inside the ONE Circle and ring.
With her first title defense taking place at the legendary Lumpinee ring, the 28-year-old addressed any possible difficulties in unfamiliar terrain.
Kelly, though, assured fans it won't be a factor and even cited her career-defining championship win over Jessa Khan as an example.
She told Home of The Fight in a previous interview:
"Well, I was beating Jessa with or without the cage. When we were in the center and we were in the corner. Even when I almost had submission attempts, it was off the cage. So the same thing with the ring."
