Johan Ghazali wants to be the undisputed best of his generation before he starts challenging his sport's established megastars and legends.

The Malaysian-American phenom is one of the fastest-rising stars in ONE Championship, and could elevate his name when he takes on fellow phenom Johan Estupinan at ONE 170 on Jan. 24 at Impact Arena.

Ahead of his flyweight Muay Thai match against Estupinan, Ghazali told the press in his virtual media day that it's a vital step in his career to take down the best fighters of his generation.

Johan Ghazali said:

"Yeah, there's a lot of young fighters up and coming. And if it makes sense, I'd like to fight with all of them. I'm looking forward to it."

Ghazali has been adamant that his dream fight is to face former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

To his credit, Ghazali already received comparisons to the Thai megastar but often deflected such high praises to instead focus on building his presence in the cutthroat world of Muay Thai.

Ghazali holds an impressive 6-1 record in ONE Championship, with stunning knockout wins over Padetsuk Fairtex, Tai Sor Jor Piek Uthai, Temirlan Bekmurzaev, Edgar Tabares, and Josue Cruz.

He now takes on a fighter of similar stature in Estupinan.

The Colombian spitfire is four years older than the 18-year-old Ghazali and has captured the fans' attention with his showmanship and power.

Estupinan is a perfect 4-0 in ONE Championship and racked up three finishes against Kouta Omori, Sean Climaco, and Zakaria El Jamari.

Johan Ghazali says a move to MMA is a possibility

Johan Ghazali believes a transition to mixed martial arts isn't a farfetched idea for his career.

On the same virtual media day, Ghazali said he plans to capture a ONE Muay Thai world title and then jump to MMA to build his persona further.

Ghazali said:

"For sure. I'm still young. My ideal plan would be to get the ONE Championship belt and transition to MMA. But we'll see how it goes."
