Grappling wizard Mikey Musumeci shares how he always push himself to meet extremely high standards.

Mikey Musumeci is renowned for his extremely versatile skills on the mat, but he also holds the highest standards in becoming a martial artist.

Inspired to chase greatness by ONE Championship's chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, 'Darth Rigatoni' turned into a global megastar after achieving top-level accomplishments in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu circuit.

Now, Musumeci will head into another crucial showdown against ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo, where he aims to be the first two-division king in his discipline.

But before that, Musumeci spoke in length about his principle of always trying to hunt for a finish in every fight in an interview with Cageside Press recently:

"Is it a healthy way to be like this? No, because you don't enjoy anything. You're just miserable all the time. You always feel like you could have done better. But that's why I'm [at] the level [where] I am."

He added:

"I'm a perfectionist, and we never reach perfection, but we could keep working harder to keep improving, and I feel like that's why I'm always humble. I'm very hard on myself. I'm very mean, but that makes me who I am."

Kade Ruotolo hyped for the biggest super-fight against Mikey Musumeci

Following a historic victory in the Craig Jones Invitational (CJI), Kade Ruotolo is totally hyped to face one of the biggest names in the submission grappling world at the moment – Mikey Musumeci.

While Ruotolo knows Mikey Musumeci is not an easy target despite having the weight advantage as 'Darth Rigatoni' is climbing up three divisions from flyweight, he promises to go all out at ONE 168: Denver on September 6.

The youngest ADCC world champion told ONE on the magnitude of this epic showdown against Musumeci:

"People were calling it one of the biggest super fights in jiu-jitsu history. I was kinda surprised to hear that, but I was like, 'Wow, that's really cool to hear.'"

Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
