Demetrious Johnson, the current ONE flyweight world champion, said he would be open to commentating for ONE Championship after he retires.
Last Friday, Mighty Mouse’ Demetrious Johnson treated fans to a great play-by-play of some of the best matchups at ONE Fight Night 6: Superbon vs. Allazov. At the same time, he shared some of his own viewpoints of the game with the same charisma and light-hearted chatter only found in Demetrious Johnson.
After having such an enjoyable experience in calling out fights, ‘Mighty Mouse’ was asked if he would ever consider commentating after retirement, he told SCMP MMA:
“With me, I believe I have the knowledge and I can speak on the fight itself because I’ve been in there and done it for so long. It’s something I’m looking forward to potentially doing in the future. But first and foremost, I’m a father and a husband so I want to make sure to give my time to them. If I’m going to do this full-time, I’m on the road every single month. So we’ll see. I’m not shutting it down. We’ll see what happens.”

Since being traded to ONE Championship, Johnson has competed once or twice a year in the Circle, which has allowed him to spend more time with his wife and kids while being a full-time MMA fighter.
If Johnson can find another happy medium as a commentator in the future, it will certainly please the fans as they already love hearing what he has to say.
Adriano Moraes quotes Demetrious Johnson ahead of their trilogy saga at ONE Fight Night 10
Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson are on a collision course this May to end their epic two-year rivalry in spectacular fashion.
The former flyweight king, ‘Mikinho’ Adriano Moraes, is looking forward to re-claiming his world title after ‘Mighty Mouse’ defeated him by stoppage at ONE on Prime Video 1 last August.
Thrilled to be fighting on U.S. soil for the first time in ONE Championship history, ‘Mikinho’ is grateful for the opportunity to fight in front of an American crowd.
Speaking to Combat Press concerning the significance of fighting in Denver, Colorado at ONE Fight Night 10, Moraes said:
“I really like a quote by Demetrious Johnson where he said, ‘The greatest fighters have always fought on both sides of the world.’ I’ve fought in Brazil, I’ve fought in Asia, and now it’s time to fight in the United States. ONE certainly deserves all the best, as they work hard for the growth of the sport. And I’m very excited and happy about it.”
