Former ONE strawweight MMA world champion and current first-ranked contender 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks of the United States is thankful no matter where his career takes him.

The 31-year-old Mash Fight Team representative joined ONE Championship in November 2021, and has been able to travel across the globe to fight in different arenas.

Speaking to the South China Morning Post in a recent interview, Brooks says he believes he is on the right path and is living out his destiny.

'The Monkey God' said:

"No, man, I believe in myself, and I believe that God puts people on a path, and if they work hard enough, and the destiny pretty much comes to them. But you've got to chase it too at the same time. So I'm not surprised that I've done all this traveling. It's all my dreams and aspirations as a kid. And I'm still kind of like an adult kid, so I'm still getting to live out my dreams and aspirations. I thank my family, and I thank the people that are around me constantly, just for giving me those opportunities."

'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks is set to lock horns with 'El Gladiador' Gustavo Balart in the main event at ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart on Prime Video.

The bout will be for the ONE interim strawweight MMA gold.

The event broadcasts live from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, August 2nd.

Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action live and absolutely free on Amazon Prime Video.

'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks is thankful to have been to Asia and witnessed true martial arts: "They're so respectful"

Coming from the UFC, where trash talk and banter is the norm, it was a culture shock for 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks to experience firsthand the honor and prestige of martial arts in Asia.

And he will never forget the lessons he has learned out in the East.

He told SCMP MMA:

"That's the thing I love about Asia and a lot of other parts of the countries that I've been to. Their whole structure in their country is martial arts, and they're so respectful. You don't see people shitting on each other."
