Constantly thinking about Joshua Pacio has been mentally taxing for Jarred Brooks. At ONE Fight Night 24 last weekend, 'The Monkey God' certainly fought with renewed vigor, as he had a new challenge in Gustavo Balart.
The American completed what he was set out to do, choking out 'El Gladiador' in under a round to emerge as the interim strawweight MMA world champion.
While a title unification with the champ Pacio is inevitable, Brooks is just grateful to showcase the extent of his abilities against a different foe. The Mash Fight Team standout happily shared during his ONE Fight Night 24 post-event interview:
"I'm tired of hearing the same name. It's almost been three years of hearing [the name] Joshua Pacio. I'm glad that I got to go against Gustavo Balart this past time. So thank you ONE Championship for that."

Brooks and Pacio technically split their first two matches under the world's largest martial arts organization.
The American wrestler dethroned 'The Passion' in front of his hometown crowd in Manila back in 2022. The rematch came at ONE 166: Qatar last March, which ended in controversy after a disqualifying slam from Brooks resulted in the title changing hands.

Jarred Brooks says potential Demetrious Johnson fight is his priority over Joshua Pacio trilogy
Jarred Brooks has never been shy of calling his shot against arguably one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, Demetrious Johnson. 'The Monkey God' once again called out 'Mighty Mouse' on the heels of his title-clinching win over Balart.
In the same post-fight interview, Brooks admitted he'd take a fight with 'DJ' in a heartbeat over his unfinished business with Pacio.
"Let's run that back in a good way, good fashion, but at the same time, he's second on my list. I do want to bury his name. But yeah, Josh, he's second on the list, compared to Demetrious Johnson."
