Reece McLaren is ready for his second shot at gold. The Australian scored a huge split decision victory over Jarred Brooks in their flyweight MMA showdown at ONE Fight Night 26 this past weekend at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.
Following his win over the ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion, McLaren proclaimed himself the uncrowned king of the flyweight MMA division.
Reece McLaren said in a backstage interview with ONE Championship:

"I've been here for nine years, trying to work my way up. I get close, I fail, I get close this time, and I finally succeeded. I'm coming for what's mine. I feel like I'm the uncrowned champ, the uncrowned king. Give me that gold, baby!"
McLaren is one of the true OGs of ONE Championship and has been wreaking havoc in the promotion since his Dec. 2015 debut in Manila. Starting his run at bantamweight, McLaren chalked up two straight wins before challenging then-holder Bibiano Fernandes for the ONE bantamweight MMA world title.
'Lightning', however, fell short via split decision against Fernandes in his first crack at ONE Championship gold.
After taking on former ONE bantamweight MMA world champion Kevin Belingon in his final match at 145 pounds, McLaren moved down a weight class to flyweight where he currently ranks as the number four contender in the division.
McLaren has since captured nine wins in the flyweight MMA class and has the potential to contend for the vacant ONE flyweight MMA world title in 2025.
ONE Fight Night 26 is available on free replay to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
