Robert Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev's history

Robert Whittaker had a lot of tweets pop up regarding how in-shape he seems to be but a lot of the tweets were also centric on the first Chimaev fight falling out.

The 33-year-old was initially supposed to battle Chimaev in the Summer which had many in the world of mixed martial arts equal parts intrigued as well as excited. Whittaker vs. Chimaev was positioned for June 22 at a UFC Fight Night offering in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Fight Night main event would end up falling out after it was revealed that Khamzat Chimaev was experiencing health issues. The illness that 'Borz' was dealing with forced him to withdraw from the matchup but Whittaker still desired to compete on that Summer card.

The New Zealand native would end up fighting Ikram Aliskerov who gamely stepped up on short notice to fight the former king of 185 pounds. It would take Whittaker less than two minutes to finish Aliskerov and assert his dominance. An uppercut and follow up grounded punches spelled the end for Aliskerov in that outing.

This was the Russian combatant's second loss in professional MMA with Aliskerov's first loss fittingly enough taking place against the aforementioned Chimaev.

They're looking to run it back again a few months later in this rescheduled affair as the MMA world collectively waits on Whittaker versus Chimaev with great vigor. This enthusiasm for the consequential contest at middleweight seems to refer to both fans and fighters alike.
