At the very highest level of combat sports, the smallest decisions can have the biggest impacts and that's something that worked against Sinsamut Klinmee in his last fight.

The former two-time title challenger looked to earn a third shot at winning ONE gold by extending his winning streak at ONE Fight Night 22.

After wins over Mouhcine Chafi and Victor Teixeira, he came into the top contenders' fight against Dmitry Menshikov with plenty of confidence.

For the first two rounds, you could see this firsthand as the Thai striker looked to be at his very best, controlling the fight for the opening six minutes.

Seemingly two up on the scorecards heading into the third, he just needed to get through the final stanza to emerge victorious.

Unfortunately, Menshikov was able to pull off a stunning comeback in the closing moments to stop Sinsamut.

Ahead of his return at ONE Fight Night 25 on Oct. 4, he reflected on what went wrong at this moment during an interview with ONE Championship:

"During that fight, I caught a jab in the eye, and I made the wrong decision to keep defending from the outside rather than get close to trade with him."

Sinsamut will look to put this behind him on Oct. 4

Sinsamut will look to return to the win column at Lumpinee Stadium on Oct. 4, where he takes on the debuting Youssef Assouik.

The Thai competitor has a wealth of experience when it comes to fighting at the very highest level and this will be crucial to securing the win over Assouik.

A new arrival in the division will look to make a name for himself by knocking off one of the top contenders on his debut.

For Sinsamut, he's out to turn the tables once again by proving that he belongs at this level.
