Reigning and undisputed ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion 'Darth Rigatoni' Mikey Musumeci of the United States has made it a habit of putting himself in precarious situations, which he says is the secret to keeping his edge.

In fact, the Italian-American superstar wouldn't have it any other way.

Speaking to Cageside Press in a recent interview, Musumeci talked about how he likes to approach every career challenge and how he's addicted to the 'feeling of uncertainty'.

'Darth Rigatoni' stated:

"It's basically how I live my life. I'm always challenging myself. I'm always giving myself more obstacles. I need that, I need that feeling of uncertainty, that doubt, to train hard. Now I don't really get a high from just winning in my division, so having people who give me fire to train, that's what does it for me."

'Darth Rigatoni' Mikey Musumeci is set to vie for double gold when he moves up three weight classes to challenge Kade Ruotolo for the ONE lightweight submission grappling world title.

The two lock horns at ONE 168: Denver, which broadcasts live from the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, on Friday, September 6th.

Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action live and absolutely free on Amazon Prime Video. Limited tickets to watch are available via Ticketmaster.

Mikey Musumeci chases perfection even if it's unattainable: "That makes me who I am"

'Darth Rigatoni' Mikey Musumeci's work ethic may be second to none. But that doesn't mean he believes this approach is necessarily the best way to go about things.

He told Cageside Press:

"Is it a healthy way to be like this? No, because you don't enjoy anything. You're just miserable all the time. You always feel like you could have done better. But that's why I'm [at] the level [where] I am. I'm a perfectionist, and we never reach perfection, but we could keep working harder to keep improving, and I feel like that's why I'm always humble. I'm very hard on myself. I'm very mean, but that makes me who I am."
