Mayssa Bastos believes that being in the moment will be crucial to her next outing under the ONE Championship banner.

In two appearances with the promotion, she has secured back-to-back wins that have led to her claiming yet another prize for the trophy cabinet.

After securing a debut win in March, Mayssa Bastos went on to challenge Danielle Kelly for the ONE atomweight submission grappling world championship at ONE Fight Night 24.

In a close battle, she secured the win to lift the gold back in August and now, the two women are set to meet again at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Brazilian thinks that in their rematch at ONE Fight Night 26, Kelly might have a few tricks up her sleeve that the champion can't prepare for.

She told ONE Championship that her emphasis is on being quick to react in order to stay one step ahead of her opponent:

"In order for me not to be surprised, I need to be attentive at all times during the fight. I need to be very focused. I have no way of knowing what she will be thinking about doing during the fight, so I need to focus a lot on the present moment of the fight to do well and not be surprised."

Mayssa Bastos has done it once before already

For the defending champion Mayssa Bastos, she already has a mental edge heading into the rematch on Dec. 6.

Danielle Kelly was able to take some positives from their first encounter which will allow her to make important adjustments before running it back.

However, at the end of the day, Bastos is the one who emerged victorious and that puts her in a great place for ONE Fight Night 26.

If the Brazilian is able to stay focused, she will be confident about leaving Bangkok with the atomweight gold once again.
