Kwon Won Il thinks that Jonathan Haggerty exposed the blueprint to beating ONE bantamweight MMA world champion Fabricio Andrade.
In a matter of hours, Kwon will have an opportunity at both revenge and 26 pounds of gold when he challenges Andrade in one of three massive world title fights this Friday, Jan. 24 at ONE 170.
Emanating from the iconic Impact Arena in Bangkok, Kwon Won Il will look to avenge a 62-second body-kick knockout loss against Andrade from more than two years ago. If he accomplishes his goal, he'll also leave with the ONE bantamweight MMA crown.

Speaking with ONE ahead of their highly anticipated rematch, Kwon suggested that Fabricio Andrade's loss to ONE bantamweight kickboxing world titleholder Jonathan Haggerty at ONE Fight Night 16 may have exposed the Brazilian's weaknesses, giving Kwon an upper hand in their sequel scrap:
“Andrade’s strengths are his kicks and his knees. I feel that he is better at striking from long range. As for his weakness, from his previous match with Jonathan Haggerty, I noticed quite a few things. I saw a few weaknesses with his striking skills. And his grappling skills look really weak. I think those are his weaknesses.”
Kwon Won Il never got over his loss against Fabricio Andrade
Since coming up short against Fabricio Andrade at ONE 158, Kwon Won Il has landed himself a trio of highlight-reel knockouts against Mark Abelardo, Artem Belakh, and most recently, Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg.
However, even after bagging a trio of impressive wins, 'Pretty Boy' still hasn't been able to forget about his quick-fire loss against 'Wonder Boy' in June 2022:
“When I lost the first fight, I was really pissed off. I was really pissed off, and even angry, and all I could think about was that I really wanted to meet him again. That’s all I could think about.”
31 months later, the South Korean slugger will finally have the chance to avenge his last loss inside the circle and take away what Andrade covets most — his ONE Championship gold.
