“I pay attention to myself” - Alyona Rassohyna not stressing over Denice Zamboanga’s strengths ahead of interim title showdown

Alyona Rassohyna is planning to play to her strengths rather than Denice Zamboanga's weaknesses.

More than three years removed from her last appearance inside the Circle, Rassohyna returns to martial arts' biggest stage this Friday night at ONE Fight Night 27.

Airing live from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, the returning Ukrainian sensation will square off with Filipina fan favorite Denice Zamboanga, the winner emerging as the new interim ONE atomweight MMA world champion.

During her pre-fight interview, Rassohyna said she's not overly familiar with Zamboanga's weaknesses, nor is she all that concerned with figuring them out. Instead, she's focusing on her strengths and imposing her will against the one they call 'The Menace.' Rassohyna said:

"I don't know her weaknesses, I know my strengths, I know my advantages and techniques that I can use to win both in the stand-up and the parterre [on the ground]. So, I pay attention to myself more than I pay attention to somebody else."

Alyona Rassohyna looks to pick up where she left off against Denice Zamboanga

It will be Alyona Rassohyna's first time competing in ONE Championship since competing in back-to-back bouts against the promotion's reigning atomweight MMA queen, Stamp Fairtex, back in 2021.

Rassohyna landed an impressive third-round submission victory over Stamp at ONE: Unbreakable III before suffering a close split decision loss against the Thai superstar seven months later.

Since then, Rassohyna has given birth to two children, hence her lengthy layoff.

Still, her win over Stamp and the 13-win record has kept her locked into the atomweight MMA division's top five. Now, she'll look to leapfrog to the top and set the stage for a trilogy fight with Stamp in 2025.
