Jonathan Haggerty considered his rematch with Superlek Kiatmoo9 as the biggest fight of his life.

Needless to say, the former ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion worked hard like never had before to avenge his previous loss to 'The Kicking Machine'.

'The General' went above and beyond in preparation and made the necessary sacrifices to ensure victory at ONE 168: Denver last September.

Unfortunately for Jonathan Haggerty, all his effort went for naught courtesy of a sickening counter-elbow from the Thai megastar.

In an appearance on the Winners Talking Podcast, the British striker gave a candid response about why his sub-minute defeat to Superlek hurt as much as it did.

"The hardest thing about that fight, losing it, was how hard I trained for that fight. I did a 13-week fight camp. I flew everyone out with me to come stay at apartments. I was running up hills. I was in America like a month and a half, before every other fighter. They all came in fight week."

The bantamweight kickboxing king continued:

"I mean, I'm dedicated to every fight camp. But this one, I put everything into it. And for it to finish inside just 49 seconds...I was gutted."

Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek traverse different paths after ONE 168

After stealing the crown from Haggerty, Superlek will defend his place atop the 135-pound Muay Thai division against rampaging contender Nico 'King of the North' Carrillo at ONE 170.

This massive five-round slugfest is one of three world title fights in the promotion's Jan. 24 event at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Haggerty will look to return to the win column the following month, where he'll defend his remaining bantamweight kickboxing belt for the first time.

'The General' will trade heavy leather with China's Wei Rui in the curtain closer of ONE 171 on Feb. 20, which will mark the home of martial arts' return to the Middle East.
