Two-division world champion Reinier de Ridder has that rare responsibility of jumping between weight classes, and maintaining weight between middleweight and light heavyweight requires a tweak in the diet.
What the Dutch superstar does is keep it as clean as possible to ensure that he’s operating at the maximum level regardless of division.
Reinier de Ridder has to make sure that he’s keeping up with his diet when he defends the ONE light heavyweight world title against ONE interim heavyweight world champion Anatoly Malykhin at ONE on Prime Video 5 this Friday, December 2, at Mall of Asia Arena.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, de Ridder said that he’s not a fan of indulging too much in sweet and savory treats since he feels that those kinds of food drain his energy quicker. The only time that he can fully enjoy a plate of pasta, though, is after his fights:
“I can eat more, but I don't really enjoy eating too much shitty food anyway. Because it makes me feel slow and tired. If I eat a lot of bread or pasta and stuff, I don't feel good training. So I can't really go too crazy because I don't feel well-trained. So that's a shame. But after the fight, I'll catch up.”
Reinier de Ridder, who’s considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, holds a perfect 16-0 record and is 7-0 in his mixed martial arts matches in ONE Championship.
‘The Dutch Knight’ is coming off one of the best wins of his career when he submitted former ONE middleweight world champion Vitaly Bigdash in the first round at ONE 159 this past July.

Reinier de Ridder wants heavyweight gold
Reinier de Ridder may hold two world titles right now, but he’s far from content.
The ONE middleweight and light heavyweight world champion is adamant in his pursuit of the ONE heavyweight world title, and being a three-division world champion remains his career goal.
In an interview with Morning Kombat, de Ridder said that becoming the ONE heavyweight world champion would speak volumes about his legacy.
“That’s why I’m here. I want to do something special. And that would be something very special. It’s something I’ve been looking at. I’ve been asking for it for a while.”
