Former ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion Danielle Kelly admits that she put too much pressure on herself against Mayssa Bastos last time around that she was not able to perform at her very best. It is something she is looking not to have a repeat of in their rematch this week.
The two first met in a title clash back in August for the atomweight gold. They had a spirited back-and-forth but in the end it was the Brazilian star who was declared the winner and new world champion, thanks to a late charge that had Kelly on the defensive.
Speaking on JitsCast, Danielle Kelly spoke about what went down in her first showdown with Bastos, including how overthinking things brought undue pressure on her that bit her in the end.
The 29-year-old Silver Fox BJJ standout said:

"I felt like I put a lot more pressure on me. I start to overthink. I'm not like in the groove of my training or just not being myself, and I felt like you know just doing when I was doing less because I was always traveling and just doing a lot more extra stuff, like moving and whatnot."

Danielle Kelly enters ONE Fight Night 26 with a recalibrated mindset
Danielle Kelly said she is entering her rematch with Mayssa Bastos at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6 with a recalibrated mindset, having learned her lesson in their first encounter.
The American grappling ace shared this in an interview with ONE Championship, highlighting how she is more scary as she is coming into the contest more relaxed and unfettered.
"I don't feel any stress this time, which is pretty scary just because you're kind of going out there, and you're having the mindset of not having anything to lose."
Bastos-Kelly II is one of two featured world title fights at ONE Fight Night 26, which is the final Prime Video show of ONE Championship for this year.
