Denice Zamboanga has overcome many setbacks during her career in ONE Championship. Just when it seemed like it was all falling into place for the atomweight contender, more hurdles came between her and a shot at the world championship.
Zamboanga already had her world title fight with Stamp Fairtex at ONE 167 in June canceled after the champion suffered a significant injury that she is yet to return from.
As a result of that, an interim title fight was booked for ONE Fight Night 25 in October. This time around, it was the Filipino contender who was forced to withdraw due to a hamstring injury.
Denice Zamboanga's next bout is now booked for ONE Fight Night 27 on Jan. 10 where she will face Alyona Rassohyna for the interim title.

In a recent interview with ABS-CBN, she spoke about her recovery process and how this most recent setback didn't completely derail her training this time around:
"I avoided straining my hamstring. That's the only thing I took care of, but I stayed active even with the minor injury."
Denice Zamboanga has stayed the course
It would have been very easy for Denice Zamboanga to stray from the path and forget about what is so important to her.
However, her dreams of becoming a world champion will not be denied by any injury or other setback.
She's still incredibly motivated to bring the gold back to the Philippines and at the first Fight Night event of 2025, she has the opportunity to do just that.
With her opportunity finally arriving, Zamboanga won't let this moment slip through her fingers after the many months of hard work that she has put into this pursuit.
At Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, it's all or nothing for the motivated No. 2-ranked challenger and her world title ambitions.
