A former UFC champion's hint at moving to middleweight to become a two-division champion has caught the attention of MMA fans worldwide. Many people backed the individual's ambition to compete for a second belt, while some voiced their doubts.
The person in question is former light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka, who recently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience. Prochazka stated that he would only drop to 185 pounds to contend for the second title if he managed to reclaim his title and establish himself as the promotion's top light heavyweight.
He said:
''The main thing for me is...to show consistency in light heavyweight, take the belt, then I can fight for the belt in middleweight."

Fans soon rushed to the comments section to share their reactions.
One fan backed Prochazka, writing:
''I can see Jiri being a double champ, after his last performance he def put himself back into title contention. I don’t think DDP wants that fight at middleweight tho''
Another one made a humorous remark, writing:
''Jiri dropping to middleweight to get the title and then rubberbanding up to heavyweight to get a third belt would be one of the funniest things ever''
Other fans wrote:
''Nahhh Jiri Prochazka will end up DOMINATING THE UFC 100%!''
''I think he probably will reclaim the LHW belt but after Pereira leaves the division or loses. Since he’s 0-2 he’s gonna need at least 3 wins minimum to justify a 3rd fight. By the time he does that Alex would’ve lost or he moves up to HW for the 3rd belt then retires.''

When Dricus du Plessis suggested Jiri Prochazka move down to middleweight
Jiri Prochazka previously posted a video on his YouTube channel and expressed his desire to face Dricus du Plessis for the middleweight title before the latter's title defense against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 last year.
After hearing the news, du Plessis told Shadow Banned that Prochazka should drop to middleweight. He said:
''Prochazka is too small, he needs to make the (move down to middleweight). I saw Prochazka’s weight at the UFC Performance Institute and I think he’s too small for (light heavyweight). He walks around lighter than I do.'' [H/t: Bloody Elbow]
