“I think our fight will be really exciting” - Rodtang hopes to face Takeru Segawa in ONE Championship

Muay Thai prodigy Rodtang Jitmuangnon is calling out Japanese kickboxing megastar Takeru Segawa. Takeru left his K-1 contract earlier this year and is currently a free agent.

'The Iron Man', an experienced Muay Thai striker, believes that if Takeru joins ONE Championship, he will face him. While speaking in an interview with the Asian martial arts organization, Rodtang said:

"If he joins ONE, there's a high chance he will face me. However, it depends on his agent."

Earlier this year, Takeru faced Tenshin Nasukawa in one of the biggest matches in Japanese kickboxing history. Both Rodtang and Takeru have lost fights against the kickboxing phenom during their careers.

Takeru is a multi-division former K-1 world champion and has earned multiple K-1 Grand Prix world titles during his career. He left all of his prestigious world titles behind in 2022 and is seeking to fight elsewhere.

'The Iron Man' believes that a fight between him and Takeru would be electric for combat sports fans. He explained:

"I knew him before because he fought with my old foe, Tenshin [Nasukawa]. After Tenshin announced his retirement in kickboxing, that left me and him [Takeru] to be a good matchup. Our fight will benefit Muay Thai and kickboxing. Also, our fighting style is quite similar. So, I think our fight will be really exciting for the fans who are waiting to see it."

The Thai-born athlete is willing to fight Takeru under either Muay Thai or kickboxing rules. More importantly, Rodtang just wants the matchup.

Takeru Segawa is not currently signed to ONE Championship, so Rodtang will have to wait a little longer. 'The Iron Man' also has some stiff competition ahead of him.

At ONE on Prime Video 4 on November 18, the Thai fighter will face ONE strawweight Muay Thai world champion 'The Hurricane' Joseph Lasiri. 'The Iron Man' is looking to put on a show for fans and win this bout by way of knockout. In an interview with ONE, he said:

"I expect to knock him out in round three. I want to knock him out with a high kick. But it would be tricky because he is too tall to reach. So, I think I'd knock him out with my killer punch and elbow instead."
