It's no secret that Jon Jones has been planning his heavyweight debut for a long time. However, Georges St-Pierre is seemingly keen to see 'Bones' transition to the heavyweight rankings. He has high hopes for the American's career within the UFC's heaviest division.

St-Pierre likes what he is seeing from Jones' current weight gain, with 'GSP' believing the fighter is putting on weight correctly. While speaking to MMA Fighting, 'Rush' stated:

"And it looked like he put the weight at the right place. I can’t wait. I’m a fan of Jon Jones, I like to see him fight. I can’t wait to see him come back."

The UFC legend doesn't feel Jones will suffer from 'ring rust' upon returning to the organization:

"A lot of people are like, ‘Yeah, he was out for a long time.’ He was out for a long time, but he’s Jon Jones, you know what I mean? Don’t forget that he’s Jon Jones. He’s arguably the best fighter of all time too. He can make a comeback, and I think he’s going to be successful when he does.

'Bones' hasn't fought in the UFC since beating Dominick Reyes via unanimous decision at UFC 247 in 2020. Many felt that Reyes did enough to win the pay-per-view bout, so the pressure will likely be on Jones upon his return to prove himself once again.

Who is Jon Jones likely to fight upon making his heavyweight debut in the UFC?

As mentioned, Jones will make his UFC return in the heavyweight division. However, 'Bones' is yet to book a fight.

It's been widely reported that Jones will take on Curtis Blaydes if Francis Ngannou doesn't re-sign with the UFC. It seems likely that 'Bones' will return at UFC 285 on March 5, 2023.

However, Curtis Blaydes would prefer to fight for the heavyweight title instead of taking on Jones. Blaydes is also seemingly not keen on an interim belt and is set to clinch the "real-title" instead of facing 'Bones' in the "ultimate consolation" bout.

'Razor' has won his last three UFC outings in the heavyweight division, scoring wins against the likes of Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Chris Daukaus, and surging prospect Tom Aspinall.

However, his latest victory against Aspinall was overshadowed by a fight-ending injury suffered by the Englishman.
