'Panico' Edson Marques earned a second-round TKO stoppage against Eduard 'Landslide' Folayang at ONE on Prime Video 5. But the ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong believes the stoppage was far too soon.
The Filipino-born 'Landslide' is the former ONE lightweight world champion, but has fallen on hard times recently. Chatri Sityodtong offered his point of view during the post-fight press conference. The ONE CEO explained:
"So, two things come to mind. One is, I thought that was an early stoppage. But at the same time, I also think, Eduard, if he doesn't change his fighting style, I'll be a little concerned, given where he is in his career."
Chatri is referring to Folayang going 2-7 in his past nine bouts. The ONE CEO continued:

"Yeah, I thought that he was winning the fight, and then it got a little bit reckless towards the end, and that cost him the fight."

Even though 'Landslide' may not hold a world title anymore, he has a legacy that he should be proud of, particularly in the gym. Eduard Folayang is a core member of the Team Lakay gym centered in Baguio City. Incredible Filipino fighters have now passed through the hallowed halls at Team Lakay, such as Joshua Pacio, Lito Adiwang, Kevin Belingon, and Stephen Loman, among many others.
In the above press conference, Chatri added:
"I think like I said, Father Time catches up with everybody. I think Eduard and Geje [Eustaquio] have maybe one or two good years left of high level competition. But they definitely have to adjust their styles because you can see that their chins are no longer what they used to be."
Edson Marques earned $50,000
With Brazilian Edson Marques's knockout against Folayang, the lightweight fighter went home $50,000 richer due to earning a performance bonus at ONE on Prime Video 5.

"One more step to the belt, here we come... All honor and glory to GOD. Thanks to everyone who believes and makes our work worthwhile."
