"I was tired of not knowing the answer" - Dante Leon shares how humility helped him improve in his craft

Dante Leon, one of ONE Championship's newest additions to its growing submission grappling roster, learned early on in his Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) career that the best way to improve is to ask for help.

In an interview with ONE, the Canadian BJJ star recounted how his humility as a young adult led to him finding sustained success in the sport after suffering a stretch of defeats:

"That's the thing about young athletes who have successes. You don't necessarily wanna ask people anything, and you don't necessarily wanna hear what other people think or what other people say, especially if it goes against what you think is right. You're just gonna take personal offense to it, and you're gonna write the person off a lot of times."

He continued:

"But, at that moment, at that point in time, I was tired of not knowing the answers to things, and I wanted somebody to tell me the answers. So, I was at least smart enough to swallow my own ego at 18, 19, and started listening to people."

Dante Leon will look to showcase the entirety of his BJJ abilities when he makes his ONE Championship debut at ONE Fight Night 26 on Friday, Dec. 6, inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
