British striker Jonathan Haggerty lost his standing as a two-sport ONE world champion in his last match. However, he has vowed to push for the lofty status again through the course of his campaign next year.

The Orpington, England native, who is the reigning bantamweight kickboxing world champion, lost the division's Muay Thai belt he concurrently held previously to Thai superstar Superlek Kiatmoo9. He lost by way of a devastating 49-second knockout in their title clash in the United States in September.

In an interview with ONE Championship, 27-year-old Haggerty shared his plans for next year, including his goal of becoming a two-sport king again, saying:

"My goal in 2025 is to become double-champ again. I've done it before and I want to do it again next year."

But before Jonathan Haggerty makes his push for another world title, he is to defend the bantamweight kickboxing gold first at ONE 171: Qatar on Feb. 20. He will be taking on No. 1 title contender Wei Rui of China at the event happening inside the Lusail Sports Arena.

It will be his first defense of the championship belt he claimed in November last year with a knockout of bantamweight MMA king Fabricio Andrade in their all-champion clash for the then-vacant world title.

ONE 171 will mark the return of ONE Championship to Qatar. It will be aired live and for free in U.S. primetime with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Jonathan Haggerty also looks to open his own gyms in the near future

While still far from calling it quits in his journey as a fighter, Jonathan Haggerty said he is looking to sharing his knowledge through the gyms he is keen on putting up in the near future. He said such could come by next year.

'The General' made this known in a recent interview on the Winners Talking Podcast, as his shared a possible fallback after his fighting career is over. The reigning ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion said:

"I want to open up a few gyms. A few franchise gyms -- Haggerty Academies, might as well plug that in while I can. Small ones to start off with because a lot of people told me it's hard work. I don't want to jump to the deep end, so that."

Haggerty has been competing professionally for a decade now, the last five years in ONE Championship. He has had a lot of success while honing his skills at Knowlesy Academy.
