Alexander Volkanovski is confident that he will get his hand raised in his superfight against Islam Makhachev this Saturday at UFC 284.
During episode #3 of UFC 284 Embedded, Volkanovski spoke about his training and how he is approaching his fight against the reigning lightweight champion. He made a bold statement about what he believes will transpire in the bout.
He said:
"I'm going to be fighting for every millimeter, for the whole 25 minutes. Let's see if he could get me down. If he does, let's see if he could even hold me, and let's see how long he could even do that for, cause I could guarantee you this, I'll do it for 25 minutes. One-hundred percent." [1:12 - 1:26]

The reigning featherweight champion also added that his opponents are quick to dismiss his power. He mentioned that he eventually imposes his will on his opponents and makes them fight his style of fight, saying:
"They {his opponents} all feel strong early but after 5-6 minutes with me, they all slow down. They all start going exactly how I want them to go and they all start fighting my fight, and there's not one man that could slow me down" [1:27 - 1:38]
It will be interesting to see how Volkanovski performs at 155lbs and whether he can add his name to the history books and become a two-division UFC champion. He has stated on numerous occasions that he would be active in both divisions should he win the lightweight championship.

Islam Makhachev a heavy favorite against Alexander Volkanovski
It's no surprise that sportsbooks have Islam Makhachev as the betting favorite leading into his superfight against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia.
What's shocking is how much of a favorite he is, especially considering what the featherweight champion has accomplished thus far. According to Tipico Sportsbook, Makhachev is a -390 favorite, while 'Volk' is a +310 underdog.
Based on the current odds, a $20 wager on the featherweight champion to win will earn a $62 profit. Meanwhile, that same $20 wager on the UFC lightweight champion to retain his title would earn only a $5.13 profit.
