The issues between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier remain unresolved, with 'The Diamond' still expressing a deep desire to fight 'The Notorious' again, despite having two wins over the Irishman. Poirier recently had a sitdown with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani on an episode of The MMA Hour.

It was during his appearance that Poirier spoke about his feud with the Irishman, with whom he has shared the octagon thrice. A key reason behind Poirier's seething hatred for McGregor is how personal 'The Notorious' had made their rivalry due to his trash talk.

For Poirier, McGregor went to unforgivable lengths, which he explained while answering Helwani's question as to why there's still animosity between the pair. He said:

"Dude, he talked... he crossed lines you can't come back from, you know?"

This caused Helwani to ask Poirier for his feelings whenever McGregor takes aim at him and his family on X/Twitter. Naturally, 'The Diamond' answered with indignation, adding:

"I want to whip his a*s."

The two men have faced each other three different times, with McGregor scoring a win in their first outing back in late 2014, TKO'ing Poirier at UFC 178. The next two bouts, though, did not go McGregor's way, as Poirier TKO'd him at UFC 257, before 'The Diamond' handed the Irishman another loss at UFC 264.

McGregor snapped his shin in round one of their third encounter, an injury that has left him sidelined since. 'The Notorious' is yet to return to active competition.

Conor McGregor's trash talk for Dustin Poirier

UFC 257 had several storylines, including Conor McGregor's promise to donate to Dustin Poirier's charity, 'The Good Fight Foundation.' According to Poirier, however, the promised donation never came through. Poirier's revelation enraged the Irishman, who unleashed a hateful tirade against 'The Diamond' ahead of their UFC 264 trilogy.

First, he claimed that Poirier's wife was messaging him privately on Instagram, insinuating that she was being unfaithful. After his UFC 264 loss to Poirier, deleted tweets from the Irishman revealed that he took aim at his rival's family, including 'The Diamond's' young daughter, leading to widespread condemnation.
