Jarred Brooks isn't looking to go the distance against Gustavo Balart.
On August 2, Brooks will begin his journey back to the ONE strawweight MMA world title, which he lost against Joshua Pacio by disqualification. The American superstar's next challenge is in the ONE Fight Night 24 main event against number three-ranked Gustavo Balart, who is riding a four-fight winning streak.
Heading into next Friday's event, Brooks holds four wins under the ONE Championship banner, including two submissions. During an interview with ABS-CBN, 'The Monkey God' had this to say about wanting to make Balart his first promotional knockout victim:
"I want it to be a first-round knockout, every fighter wants a first-round knockout. But Gustavo has proven again and again and again that in the second and third round, he gasses."

Jarred Brooks last fought on March 1 in a strawweight MMA title defense against Joshua Pacio. The 31-year-old was looking good before accidentally slamming Pacio on his head, leading to a title change due to disqualification.
Brooks looks to bounce back at ONE Fight Night 24, with the interim strawweight MMA world title on the line. The August 2 event goes down inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, which can be seen live and for free by North American viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Joshua Pacio will keep a close eye on Jarred Brooks vs Gustavo Balart
The original plan was for Jarred Brooks to fight Joshua Pacio in a trilogy bout following the controversial ending of their last meeting. Unfortunately, Pacio suffered a torn ACL while training for his title defense, likely postponing his highly-anticipated return until early 2025.
Pacio is expected to fight the winner of Brooks vs Gustavo Balart to determine the undisputed ONE strawweight MMA world champion. Therefore, 'The Passion' will be watching the ONE Fight Night 24 main event to begin game planning for an important matchup in the division's history.
